Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Senior Manager - Risk Business Partner (RSSO) represents Visa Risk Europe across key commercial initiatives. It will also provide support to the rest of the RSSO team on other key work as needed. The role will provide risk support on strategy development and execution of that strategy through the creation and maintenance of policy and support with industry/client engagement as required to enhance the ecosystem.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ability to lead, manage and deliver multiple Commercial and Money Movement Solutions (CMS) Risk workstreams and direct time and resources (capacity planning) to achieve the best possible outcome.
  • Act as the Risk Europe CMS point of contact across VEL and work cross regionally with key stakeholders such as Global Risk as relevant to execute and communicate a consistent Visa new CMS strategy, both internally and externally to our clients
  • Form key stakeholder relationships across VEL to develop an in depth understanding of the current end-to-end risk client lifecycle including onboarding, credit risk and ecosystem risk monitoring. Provide recommendations to tailor the existing client lifecycle to meet specific risks associated with CMS where needed.
  • Ensure that Visa Europe Risk have appropriate insight into risks arising from CMS. Establish and maintain effective channels of disseminating intelligence on specific or generic threats to the payment system and its members.
  • Provide Visa Europe members and their business partners with authoritative intelligence to guide their risk mitigation efforts/investment decisions. Provide management information on specific threats
  • Support business development of CMS related strategy/activities/products by being able to articulate current risk control environment, assist in assessing any new risks that may arise from new strategy/activities and consider these in the wider context of the overarching risk appetite
  • Support the embedding of the CMS capabilities by working with Data & Analytics to collect and analyse information on the sector, including any noticeable trends, root causes, and potential solutions.
  • Develop awareness of the wider regulatory environment and key external developments for the CMS sector including any events that may require legal consideration, reg engagement or a change to Visa Rules.
  • Write reports and proposals to key audiences, Risk Committee (ERC), Board Risk Committee (BRC) Regulators (e.g. Bank of England, ECB etc) outlining key progress/trends/findings emerging from due diligence activity within CMS
  • Socialise proposed policy changes with the business and industry (where relevant) and incorporate feedback managing internal and external stakeholders (including necessary approval processes) to deliver solutions
  • Advise, influence and support the policy makers, law enforcement agencies and the Judiciary at European, National and local level where needed.
  • Support the Risk Managers in their scaled client engagements including SME advice on any large-scale client outreach strategy, complex client queries and client facing materials that can be used in client educational sessions, client bank forums, wider industry and sector audiences as needed.
  • Report to RSSO leadership when required on relevant risk strategies.
  • Ensure that senior executives within Visa have timely and accurate information on which to base decisions.
  • Lead, manage and deliver multiple concurrent high visibility time sensitive projects and direct time and resources (capacity planning) to achieve the best possible outcome.
  • Drive the collection and analysis of information, research possible causes and trends then direct the choose the most relevant solution.
  • This role will also support temporary risk coverage of Value-Added Services (VAS) whilst the Lead of the Commercial Risk Business Partners is on maternity leave.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Expert understanding and experience of risk management practices in financial services
  • Expert of the wider European payments and / or financial services industry and the major trends affecting key stakeholders, including the regulatory, political and market environment, payment products and services, economic and competitive landscape technology and the rising threat of data breaches
  • Knowledge and experience of Visa Europe payment system, its governance principles and Visa Europe's compliance framework
  • Track record in synthesizing complex information to produce impactful management information and analysis, and support informed executive decision making
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulation
  • Understanding of business strategy, clients and their evolving requirements
  • Proven ability to build teams into cohesive, efficient and value adding entities that continually strive to achieve the best possible results
  • Proven ability to build credible-long term effective working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Experienced in preparing/reviewing/delivering executive level communications, both written and oral
  • Control / corporate functional experience (Finance, Risk & Regulatory, Legal, Compliance)
  • Sound knowledge and experience of law in relation to the payments environment and ideally have had experience in working with law enforcement/judiciary and Court proceedings
