Software Engineer

Salary: £45,954 to £51,060

Location: Manchester

Hours: Full time

Working Pattern: At least 2 days per week in our Manchester office.

About this Opportunity

This role sits within our Customer Service Transformation Lab, a co-located team within the Colleague Channels Platform. As a Software Engineer within this Lab you’ll work together with a cross functional team on key initiatives, to deliver value at pace by designing services colleagues and customers find useful, intuitive, and engaging to use, transforming their experience.

Here’s where you’ll make a difference

  • You’ll collaborate with Product Owners, Architects and Senior Engineers to produce high quality, well tested and robust code.
  • You’ll support the maintenance and improvement of existing software as well as the development of API’s and Microservices.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and understanding as well as practice and demonstrate the workplace skills and behaviours required for the role.

What you’ll need

  • Proven experience as an Engineer in Software Development.
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and create business ready and compliant solutions.
  • Essential Languages: Java, Spring Boot or similar frameworks
  • Desirable Languages: ReactJS or knowledge of JavaScript, Nodejs, TypeScript
  • Experience of Kubernetes and container management
  • Docker
  • Building RESTful services or Web UI
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and modern software development practices
  • Experience of working as part of an agile team using agile practices and tooling such as Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence.
