Key job responsibilities
You will work in the team responsible for the technology that supports customers renting and purchasing TV content and Movies and subscribing to services such as Channels, using amazon wallet payment methods ensuring all financial activities are accurately recorded in Amazon's systems. Accelerate Prime Video's growth by building highly automated, scalable finance systems. As an engineer, you can be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

A day in the life
We handle purchase and subscription lifecycle events in near-real time and map them to financial entries that are then recorded in the ledger. The ingestion and translation software logic varies based upon factors like marketplace provider, product type, locale, and taxes - which gets complex quickly with our global presence.
We play a key role in most Prime Video launches into new countries - ensuring the financial activities are accurately recorded as customers buy our products.
In addition to new expansion efforts, the team is investing in technology streamlining and migrating existing products and marketplaces to our current approaches - helping us simplify, and grow and operate more efficiently.

About the team
The team believes in open discussion on design ideas, collaboration on problem solving inside and between teams and a strong sense of ownership. The role will expose an individual to many different business areas (product/finance/accounting), as well as other internal services, and provide detailed knowledge of all the different departments involved in customers buying, renting and subscribing to our products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience in professional, non-internship software development
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
