Site Reliability Engineer, Energy Software - (Relocation to Amsterdam required!)

The Role
Tesla is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to build, improve, and scale the infrastructure that powers our Energy IoT applications. These applications provide real-time monitoring, optimization, control for our flagship Tesla Energy products including Powerwall, Megapack, Solar Roof, Supercharger, Autobidder and Virtual Power Plants.
We are a highly effective team that values learning, mentorship, open discourse, and constructing disciplined decisions by weighing tradeoffs. Our work impacts dozens of engineers, and millions of customers. You must enjoy thinking in systems and working on challenges related to the availability, reliability, scalability and security of distributed software systems. In this role, you will be primarily using and gaining experience in Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Prometheus, Github Actions, PostgresSQL, Kafka, InfluxDB, Scala and Rust.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep investigations into new technologies and unexpected issues that arise during operation
  • Provide advice on system architecture and security
  • Envision and enact changes that improve development time
  • Proficiency in reading, digesting, and reviewing code and ability to distill complicated topics such that all engineers can digest
  • Library development for use by dozens of engineers
  • Provide technical leadership, foster collaboration, and drive initiatives to completion
  • Maintain the values of the team including engineering excellence, curiosity, a bias for action, self-awareness, inclusivity and vulnerability

Requirements

  • Experience in building and scaling infrastructure for Energy IoT applications
  • Familiar with Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Prometheus, Github Actions, PostgresSQL, Kafka, InfluxDB, Scala and Rust
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn, mentor and engage in open discourse
  • Ability to make disciplined decisions by weighing tradeoffs
  • Provide real time monitoring, optimization and control for various Tesla Energy products including Powerwall, Megapack, Solar Roof, Supercharger, Autobidder and Virtual Power Plants
