Site Operations Manager - Defence Sector (Blackburn)

Location: Blackburn (BB2 7LF) & Brough (Hu15 1EQ)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm)
On-Call: Bi-weekly responsibility
Salary: £41,610 per annum

About the Role:

Securitas is looking for a Site Operations Manager to oversee security and reception services within the Defence Sector. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of security services, maintaining high performance standards, and delivering exceptional client satisfaction.

As a Site Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
Managing & leading security teams operating 24/7, 365 days a year
Overseeing reception teams at multiple locations
Ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability
Driving team engagement and performance excellence
Maintaining compliance with Securitas policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE):

• Ensure that safety is at the forefront of all operations
• Maintain health & safety standards across all site locations
• Ensure all security staff complete mandatory SHE training (Securitas & Defence Sector)
• Report all SHE incidents promptly to Securitas and site Facilities Management
• Hold IOSH training (or be working towards it) to comply with site regulations

Risk Management:

• Implement risk mitigation measures to maintain ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) principles
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify & escalate potential risks
• Ensure high standards through ongoing assurance audits
• Maintain accurate incident reports and activation records

People Culture & Leadership:

Lead by example - Represent Securitas' values & uphold Defence Sector ethical standards
• Recruit, manage, and retain a high-performing team of Shift Managers & Supervisors
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and improvement
• Provide coaching, training, and development for the team
• Conduct appraisals & career development plans for staff growth
• Proactively monitor performance, employee relations, and well-being
• Ensure effective succession planning for consistent service delivery
• Oversee all disciplinary, welfare, and performance matters, using Caseworker and Securitas policies
• Act as Incident Lead for significant on-site events, liaising with Defence Sector management

Operational Management & Client Engagement:

• Lead and allocate duties for the on-site security teams
• Ensure staffing levels meet the required service level agreements
• Develop & deliver a competency-based training package for the operational team
• Maintain accurate site documentation, assignment instructions, and risk assessments
• Conduct regular client meetings to assess satisfaction & ensure contract compliance
• Act as primary client liaison, building and maintaining strong relationships
• Provide evening & weekend on-call support when required
• Offer resilience cover at sites across the Defence Sector if needed

Financial Management:

• Monitor and control direct & indirect costs for maximum efficiency
• Ensure KPI targets are met consistently
• Support the Account Manager

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

Minimum 2 years of management experience (proven and evidenced)
Strong knowledge of Securitas management processes & procedures
Competency in using Caseworker
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
SIA Licence (Security Industry Authority) - Essential
5 years of checkable work history - Essential
Must be able to obtain SC (Security Clearance) - UK residency requirement applies
Must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable Criteria:

IOSH Trained (or working towards it)
Experience in the Defence or Critical Infrastructure sectors
Previous experience managing security teams in a high-risk environment
Strong understanding of UK security regulations and compliance standards
