Job overview
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Site Medical Education Manager who will lead and manage the team of medical training office staff at an MSEFT site at Broomfield Hospital to provide high quality administrative support for medical education and training.
A key area of responsibility will be to support the Site Director of Medical Education to ensure that the standards and objectives of the educational agreement between the Trust; its stakeholders (postgraduate: East of England Multi-Professional Deanery/undergraduate: medical schools) are met.
You will be required to deputise for the MSEFT Medical Education Manager and will have oversight of the doctors in training agenda and will be responsible for medical training and education requirements.
Main duties of the job
Duties to include:
Communication
Responsible for the liaison with Stakeholders and Quality teams at Health Education East of England with ongoing Improvement Plans and planned site visits and support on the day.
Excellent communicator requiring tact when dealing with complex information which may be contentious as well as sensitive.
Analytical and Planning
To interpret and highlight areas of concern on the Education Contract liaising with Education Finance Business Partners/HEEoE
Responsible for the management and co-ordination of postgraduate/undergraduate final examinations as required including liaising with Royal Colleges and specialty consultants in their preparation and organisation
Clinical Duties
Incidental patient contact
Ensure values-based education is included in all events and programmes involving patients
Policy and Service Development
Ensure the Site Director of Medical Education; Leads for Undergraduate Medical Education, GPST Programme Director receive appropriate administrative and secretarial support by delegating work to appropriate staff.
Develop Medical Education and Training team's service/business objectives in conjunction with line manager and Site Director of Medical Education.
To deputise for the MSEFT Medical Education Manager as required.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level with post graduate qualification or equivalent demonstrable professional experience
- Proven track record of use of IT to produce reports and databases
- Demonstrable previous administrative experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience as a manager in an education or training role or as a senior manager in the NHS
- Specialist, expert level knowledge of medical education training
- Demonstrable understanding of the operation management of the NHS
- Ability to work within deadlines and to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve tight timescales whilst facing competing demands and conflict
- Experience of managing and setting budgets
- IT skills across a range of MS Office programmes
- Implementation, development and maintenance of administration systems and processes, including records management
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of medical education terminology

- Excellent communicator
