Role Description

Princes Long Sutton is looking for a Site Manufacturing Manager to join our largest food production site in the UK. The site, located in rural Lincolnshire, is a major purchaser of locally grown British produce from independent farms for branded and customer own brand products. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading FMCG businesses!

Job Purpose

To manage all aspects of manufacturing operations at the Long Sutton site, working within the Operational Excellence framework ensuring optimum efficiency and effective delivery against performance targets.

Leading the Long Sutton Manufacturing and Logistics teams to ensure the efficient delivery of business objectives. Developing the team for high performance and continued success in meeting the goals of the future.

To be a member of the Long Sutton Senior Leadership team, acting as a role model for the Princes Values and directly supporting the delivery of all Long Sutton strategy, goals and objectives.

Working Hours
This is a Monday - Friday position 8.45 - 17.00 however there will need to be flexibility subject to business requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the necessary safety, health and environmental standards are always maintained within manufacturing operations.
  • To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure that the necessary hygiene standards are always maintained across manufacturing operations.
  • Set the direction, the culture and the standards for people and performance at the site and ensure we meet those commitments by holding individuals accountable for the delivery of their responsibilities.
  • Maintain systems and controls to ensure the consistent delivery of "right first time" production.
  • Delivery of the budgeted targets and effective achievement of the manufacturing KPI`s.
  • Ensuring efficient management of all resources within manufacturing whilst also identifying and reducing waste within the operation.
  • Developing and executing improvement plans covering all operational KPI`s within the scope of the role.
  • Ensure manufacturing data is accurate, recorded appropriately and reported in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain a good working relationship with other members of the Canning SLT. Maintain good relationships and communications with the Manufacturing team`s internal and external stakeholders.
  • With the support of the HR team, manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
  • Identify and close any training and development needs to ensure that the Manufacturing team have a high degree of flexibility and have the right knowledge and skills for high performance.
  • Strengthen the manufacturing organisation demonstrating strong leadership to ensure effective recruitment and selection, objective setting, competency and organisation development.
  • Lead the delivery of the Operational Excellence framework for manufacturing.
  • Lead and support the delivery of improvement projects and capital investment projects.
  • To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.

Role Requirements

  • Experience of manufacturing management at a senior level.
  • Key success / achievement in change management.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean work practices or Six Sigma
  • Experience of working with an end-to-end manufacturing execution system.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Proven record of delivering continuous improvement and waste reduction activity.
  • Computer literate.
