Reporting to the Director, Legacy Properties, the Site Manager, Sullivan is responsible for the surface and underground facilities of the reclaimed Sullivan Mine in Kimberley, BC. As a Site Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our project management initiatives, ensuring the flawless execution of our operations. This position is accountable for regulatory engagement and compliance and maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with the local community, including the City of Kimberley and First Nations.
The role will provide leadership for a team of ten people, with four direct reports. Relocation support is available for this position.
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Cultivate and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary site team through clear direction and performance feedback. Analyze resourcing needs and provide recommendations for team organization and composition.
- Plan, budget, and lead all annual site activities, including the development of systems, policies, and procedures for the site.
- Coordinate the collection and treatment of contaminated surface and groundwater, management of the tailings storage facility, site restoration projects, and the maintenance strategy for site-based assets.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive site documentation, including schedules, budgets, forecasts, and long-term cost estimates for liability accounting.
- Conduct timely and accurate internal and external reporting, ensuring strict control and oversight of expenditures.
- Develop and manage the site risk register, identifying, implementing, and verifying controls, and developing risk treatment plans.
- Support and coordinate the preparation, evaluation, recommendation, and award of contracts, including scopes of work, requests for proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Provide detailed contractor management and oversight of consultant and contractor teams.
- Offer technical leadership for the environmental program, including water sampling, hydrogeological investigations, and erosion and sediment control.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on reducing risk and cost in the Sullivan surface and underground facilities.
- Support the development and implementation of Community of Interest engagement plans, participating in public and First Nations engagement events to foster positive relationships.
- Collaborate and mobilize resources from subject matter experts across Teck to ensure internal expertise is demonstrated in health & safety, environment, closure, water, tailings, and social responsibility.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in project and/or mine site management in water management, mining, infrastructure, environmental, or mechanical engineering fields.
- Post-secondary degree in engineering, environmental sciences, industrial operations, maintenance, or a related field. Professional accreditation, such as P.Eng, RPF, PBio, and PAg, is an asset.
- Requires extensive knowledge and practical experience with environmental regulations and permits in British Columbia, including compliance with the Health, Safety, and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC for closed mine sites.
- BC Mines Supervisor Certification is required. BC Shift Boss certification is an asset.
- Demonstrated team leader with the ability to empower and lead a diverse team of employees, contractors, and consultants.
- Highly organized, with the ability to thrive in a sophisticated and dynamic environment and prioritize competing demands.
- Outstanding interpersonal, influencing, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
$132,000 - $163,000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
