Bourne Primary is a two-form entry school located in Eastbourne town centre, currently with 453 pupils on roll. We are a happy, thriving school that strives to give all children the best education they can receive. We support outdoor learning for all with our developing Forest School. A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a new Site Manager starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be able to undertake Site Manager responsibilities in an professional, effective and efficient manner. You will liaise with ESCC contracts, supervise cleaning staff to ensure high standards are met and provide a building maintenance service to the school. We take pride in our school premises and grounds.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for ensuring the routine and emergency opening and closing of school premises and grounds.
  • Carry out security procedures for school buildings and grounds in accordance with East Sussex County Council policy.
  • Contact direct the appropriate services in the event of the following emergencies: fire; flood; break-in; vandalism; accident.
  • Liaise direct with planning officers, architects, surveyors and officers of the county council.
  • Direct workpersons and contractors to the site of repair and maintenance work.
  • Inspect, monitor and record work performance.
  • Carry out specialist building maintenance work, including programmes of renewal/redecoration, with strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Liaise with suppliers and order caretaking, cleaning and some DIY supplies, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained.
  • Inspect and maintain certain school equipment, carry out repairs and report and manage defects.
  • Monitor fire regulations, inspections, testing compliance daily, weekly, annually.
  • Support the school in the smooth running of the day.
