About the Role

As the Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the replacement of a 275 kV line, which was constructed several decades ago and has over 50 towers. This is a crucial part of the transmission network in central and southern Scotland, supporting the distribution of electricity in the Edinburgh area. Your primary duties will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations and coordination of the site team
  • Ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality
  • Liaising with the client and other stakeholders to address any issues or concerns
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment for all personnel
  • Providing regular progress updates and reports to the project management team

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate for this Site Manager role will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven track record of successfully managing similar electrical infrastructure projects
  • Extensive experience working with companies like SPEN and/or SSE is highly desirable
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

What's in It for You?

This Site Manager role offers a competitive daily rate of £500 on an outside IR35 basis, either via a limited company or CIS. The working hours are 45 hours per week, with a 12:30 finish on Fridays. This role encompasses all the daily running of the site

  • Liaising with National Grid and Clients,
  • holding SR163 Site Management meetings,
  • Duties in this role include engaging with contractors and overseeing - The management of Civils teams and M&E Teams simultaneously,
  • Excavation to the tunnel system and core drilling through to enable 66kV cables to be pulled,
  • Foundation formation and Reinstatement,
  • Temporary Fencing installation,
  • Drainage diversions,
  • Piling Mat formation,
  • Blinding & Concrete pours,
  • Piling,
  • Building Modifications,
  • Steel structure installation,
  • Earthing, & Cable installation,
  • Multi Core Terminations,
  • Panel installation,
  • Reading Drawings and Managing them on site.
  • Ensuring timely completion of tasks as per the programme and working closely with the commissioning team to bring the latter stages of the project together.
  • I arrange acquisition of materials and equipment, testing of installed equipment and reporting to my Project Manager.
  • This role is demanding and fast paced
  • attending Design Review and Hazard Review meetings,
  • Planning works and Implementing procedures.
