Salary: Up to £35,000, dependent on experience
About Us
Buy It Direct is one of the UK's fastest-growing online retailers. We've built the business from the ground up, and our office spaces and warehouses play a huge part in keeping things running smoothly.
We're now looking for a practical, hands-on Site Maintenance Manager to help us stay on top of PPM, repairs, maintenance, and site safety.
The Role
We need someone who knows their way around tools, systems, and maintenance tasks-someone who's worked on the ground and understands how to keep a building and its services ticking over. You'll lead a small team, organise jobs, work with contractors, and make sure our sites stay safe, compliant, and in good shape.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a small team focused on the upkeep of buildings, kit, and systems including heating, electrics, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Organise and lead the maintenance team-set jobs, keep them on track, and give support where needed.
- Keep on top of repair requests, update the job system, and make sure work gets done on time.
- Plan and carry out regular checks and servicing (PPM) to keep breakdowns to a minimum.
- Order tools, materials, and parts ahead of time so jobs aren't held up.
- Work with outside contractors and engineers-get quotes, check work, and make sure it's done right.
- Track how the team's doing using KPIs and weekly progress reports.
- Help train up team members and pass on your technical know-how.
- Make sure all work meets safety rules and legal requirements.
- Keep paperwork like risk assessments, procedures, and training records up to date.
What We're Looking For
- A solid background in facilities, site maintenance, or a trade like mechanical, electrical, or plumbing.
- Hands-on experience solving day-to-day problems in a practical way.
- Comfortable leading a team and passing on skills.
- Able to use job tracking or maintenance software (we can train on the system we use).
- Good at planning your time, spotting issues early, and keeping things running smoothly.
- Clear communicator, whether it's updating the team or dealing with contractors.
- Health & safety aware and always working to a safe standard.
If you're a practical Facilities Lead who's used to fixing problems and keeping sites running smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.
