Role: Shipping Manager

Salary: Competitive

Location: Southampton (hybrid) min 3 days in Office

The Shipping Manager will be responsible for shipping strategy delivery and daily operations - it is vital to be well versed in all activities of the business and possess good commercial acumen and excellent communication skills.

A strong understanding of shipping, import/export and freight forwarding is also crucial.

Responsibilities

• Fostering strong client relationships, ensuring innovative solutions and compliance in line with UK legislation
• Work with Service Partners to ensure the required service levels are met & client service levels are maintained.
• Review pricing strategies and conduct profit margin analysis to maintain competitiveness.
• Participate actively in the day-to-day operations for shipping, import/export, and freight forwarding requirements.
• Ensure appropriate controls are in place, design out risk of error and ensure procedures are fully implemented.
• Support the business development and marketing initiatives for freight forwarding shipping and import/exports.
• Identify and drive leads to the business ensuring high levels of successful engagement.
• Support leadership in defining function and objectives and strategy and executing initiatives.
• Assist in cross functional process analysis and development of effective policies and procedures for the UK office.
• Gather, analyse and interpret external and internal data and writing reports.
• Deliver exceptional levels of customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Contribute to the on-going programme of developments in software systems to deliver business efficiencies and improved customer experience as well as continuously looking to improve department performance to support the business goals.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

• Strong commercial awareness.
• Proven experience as Shipping Manager or similar role.
• Solid knowledge of shipping, import/export and freight forwarding procedures.
• Experience with preparing financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Strong quantitative, problem-solving and communications skills are required.
• Ability to set priorities, multi-task, meet critical deadlines and pay attention to detail.
• Highly organized and motivated self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills.
