As a Director, you will be responsible for leading and owning client engagements (or multiple engagements), shaping and developing talent, and driving and owning sales & business development initiatives. You will be highly motivated and skilled in your field, with a deep passion for addressing and shaping the future of challenges in the industry.
While no two projects are the same, you will typically cultivate and nurture senior client relationships across multiple projects, building sustainable client partnerships and spearheading business development activities and market growth.
You'll play a vital role in providing strategic direction and oversight to the team in designing the analysis approach, distilling insights, and constructing strategic recommendations.
At times this will include being the bridge from strategy into delivery, and we particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in spearheading the development and delivery of innovative propositions and digital transformations, alongside core strategy skills.
The nature of the work we do includes:
• Leading commercial due diligence in various stages of the deal (early CDD prior to access, CDD with full access)
• Overseeing vendor due diligence and exit support, working with sponsors and portfolio companies
• Driving portfolio companies on growth strategy and value creation, including 100-day plans
• Identifying and developing market opportunity scans for investors
The team: The role sits within the Life Sciences & Healthcare Strategy team, part of Deloitte's Strategy Consulting team. You will work with a group of experienced strategists and industry professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds. You'll also benefit from being part of the wider Monitor Deloitte CDD/PE community in the UK and globally, with opportunities to learn best practice strategy techniques across industries. Beyond the Strategy team, you will build a network with Life Sciences & Healthcare experts across Deloitte, in digital, marketing, M&A, regulatory and operations, leveraging these connections to drive integrated client solutions and market impact.

Responsibilities: As a Strategy Director your responsibilities will include:
• Business development: Owning and driving business development, originating opportunities, creating and leading the development of compelling proposals and market offerings in collaboration with Partners.
• Practice management: Taking full ownership and strategic oversight of practice management, including financial performance, commercial strategy, learning and development, and talent management, shaping the future direction of the practice.
• Relationship management: Cultivating and expanding senior-level client and internal stakeholder relationships, acting as a trusted advisor, and driving strategic collaboration to ensure exceptional client experience and market impact.
• Leadership and client delivery: Providing overall strategic leadership and accountability for client delivery across multiple engagements, ensuring the highest quality, commercial success, and client satisfaction.
• Commercial management: Driving the commercial success of projects and the practice, optimising operational margins, and ensuring the highest quality and value delivery.
• Continuous learning: Leading by example in continuous learning, actively shaping thought leadership, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation across the practice.
• Developing our people: Mentoring and sponsoring junior colleagues, helping them to build technical as well as soft skills and coaching them to achieve their career aspirations within an inclusive team culture, contributing to the firm's talent pipeline.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
We are looking for people who will help scale our Life Sciences & Healthcare Private Equity and Principal Investors practice with a proven record of delivering engagements for investors (namely CDD) and a strong professional background in the life sciences and healthcare sector.
Essential:
• Management or strategy consultancy or equivalent
• Corporate strategy development within LSHC industry
• Demonstrable ability to build revenue generating client relationships across a number of stakeholders as well as cross-sell other Deloitte services into banking & payment clients
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams in a project-based or client-facing environment and managing stakeholder relationships
• Strong understanding of the UK Life Sciences & Healthcare landscape, trends, and drivers of change
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
• Strong academic track record
• Flexibility to travel Desirable:
• Postgraduate or professional qualification (e.g. MBA or equivalent)
• Experience in developing service offerings and propositions
