The Role
Working alternate 6-2 2-10 shifts Mon - Fri you will be responsible for delivering the production plan efficiently across the area you are responsible for, maximising yield and minimising downtime and waste. To take a lead role in progressing cost reduction exercises or quality improvements of products and processes, and assist with the development of new products.
The Ideal Candidate
- Extensive management experience in factory environments, with a strong background in the food sector.
- Proven track record of leading production teams and ensuring all members perform effectively.
- Skilled in implementing and maintaining food safety, hygiene, health & safety, and environmental standards.
- Demonstrated success in driving factory improvements and operational efficiency.
- Strong communicator, confident in engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player who fosters a positive, safe, and innovative working atmosphere.
- Results-driven leader with the ability to meet targets, solve problems, and perform under pressure.
- Works effectively within structured frameworks; decisive and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Builds strong relationships across teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Competent in IT systems relevant to production and management functions.
- Upholds high standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Logical, confident decision-maker with resilience and a proactive approach to challenges.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Liaise effectively with the Planning department to optimise efficiency and resolve issues.
- Support the Operations Manager in identifying, developing, and implementing departmental projects and initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement through KPIs and active participation in site-wide initiatives.
- Lead daily review meetings, setting production targets focused on performance, quality, safety, and waste reduction.
- Build strong relationships with other managers to enhance team performance and results.
- Foster a supportive work environment that encourages ownership and discretionary effort.
- Motivate and develop Area Leaders and staff through regular communication, appraisals, and training.
- Provide and coordinate training to build team flexibility, competence, and capability.
- Inspire the team to meet volume, yield, and cost targets while exceeding quality standards.
- Ensure departmental productivity and compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality policies.
- Provide leadership in non-standard situations, including site evacuations.
- Clearly communicate departmental targets and ensure alignment with company policies.
- Contribute to recruitment and labour planning processes.
- Manage absence, disciplinary, grievance, and counselling procedures in line with HR guidelines.
- Minimise absenteeism by supporting Area Leaders and promoting a proactive team culture and return-to-work processes.
- Prioritise health and safety for self and others; comply with statutory duties and company procedures.
- Work safely and adhere to all Health & Safety rules and policies.
