The role: Shift Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a Shift Manager to lead, develop and motivate a team within Operations unit at British Airways Maintenance Glasgow. The Shift Manager is a leader in Engineering with the capacity to deliver a safe and professional engineering operation to defined business and performance matrices. The role is required to drive and maintain safe and secure working practices with professional standards of work and housekeeping. The Shift Manager role models Technical Standards, Airmanship and Collaboration across the wider engineering business.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for the Technical, Quality and Airmanship standards of the shifts production. Ensures good engineering practice is constantly delivered to maintain compliance with relevant regulations and processes.
  • Drives engagement and builds effective relationships with trade unions, colleagues, stakeholders and partners by role modelling and embedding leadership and brand behaviours.
  • Delivers shift performance on quality and safety, operational and customer, financial and commercial, and colleagues.
  • Provide a safe working environment, drive and maintains safe and secure working practices with professional standards of work and housekeeping.
  • Develop colleagues' skills, capabilities and qualifications to support the operational requirements and talent pipeline for Engineering.

What you'll bring to British Airways:

  • Evidence of leading technical teams to consistently deliver high performance in an operation environment.
  • Sufficient technical knowledge to challenge the status quo and implement new ideas.
  • Demonstrates structured problem-solving skills to make fact-based decisions in a complex operational environment.
  • Use of proven communication skills, engaging and influencing to deliver business objectives.
  • Ability to develop, inspire and guide technical teams to deliver to their full potential.
  • Ability to adapt leadership style to different situations.

Your experience:

  • Proven structured leadership or equivalent experience.
  • An Engineering Degree or other suitable qualification.
  • An Aircraft Maintenance B1/B2 Licence or suitable experience.
