Hitachi Energy has a exciting opportunity to join the team as a Service Sales and Tendering Manager you'll be reporting to the UK Service Manager, as the Service Sales and Tendering Manager you will manage the sales and tendering team responsible for growth of our service customer base through the sale of service and maintenance agreements and our advanced/digital offerings. In addition to selling service agreements you will also be responsible for the sale of lifecycle projects. This position involves both managing the team and individual sales contributions.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

You will be responsible for formulating sales plans, budgeting, forecasts and reporting on performance against a range of key performance indicators as well as the day to day management of the sales and tendering team. You'll be delivering the full sales cycle for new customers from lead/opportunity generation through to needs identification, presentation/tender response, negotiation and closing. Championing our advanced/digital and maintenance offerings both internally and to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the sales and tendering team
  • Formulation of sales plan to deliver on growth targets and drive new customers
  • Annual budgeting with regular forecasting. Maintenance of the CRM system to provide reporting on the teams performance against budget and to ensure an appropriate pipeline is maintained.
  • Evaluation of client enquiry documentation and interpretation of their requirements, and assessment of commercial terms and conditions. Engaging in bid no-bid decisions.
  • Ensuring the tendering team formulates competitive bids/estimates/quotations, taking into account the best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation.
  • Working with the tendering team to manage the preparation of all technical, financial, cash flow and operational delivery aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions. Reviewing bids before submission and ensuring appropriate governance has been followed.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities in contract agreements across customers/channels.
  • Identifies potential vendors for equipment and materials required in the project and evaluate supplier offers to match with specifications in collaboration with Supply Chain Management.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to understand customer needs. Provide any necessary technical support to Sales team members during meetings with customers.
  • Visiting customer sites performing face to face sales meetings and site surveys.
  • Lead complex bids and customer negotiations.
  • Work across different business streams, cultures and countries. Your success will depend heavily on your ability to network and build relationships with people from all parts of the organisation, UK and overseas.
  • Identify client requirements, liaising with internal and external suppliers with close liaison with Sales, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Planning, Engineering and Commercial functions.

Background:

  • Proven sales experience focused on new business generation with a strong track record of winning new customers is essential.
  • Sales experience selling services rather than product.
  • Proven track record as a manager building and developing high performance sales teams.
