What you'll be doing:
You will report into the Service Operations Technical Architect but will be an integral part to other key departments.
The Service Operations Engineer provides comprehensive support for all business units and manages AWS infrastructure services, including CloudFormation, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, and AWS Backup, ensuring maximum availability and value. Key responsibilities involve resolving customer issues via ServiceNow, continuously learning new technologies, automating business processes with AWS tools and AI, and recommending infrastructure improvements for stability and innovation.
The role also includes providing insights on new technologies, creating operational documentation, managing infrastructure costs, supporting contact center services with AWS Connect, conducting DR testing, reducing incidents through root cause analysis, and performing platform maintenance (patching, upgrades).
Participation in disaster recovery exercises and on-call arrangements is also required.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Candidates should have an excellent understanding of AWS Cloud services (Cloudformation, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, AWS Backup, Amazon Connect) and networking (Direct Connect, VPNs, subnetting, routing, WAFs, VPCs). AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification, Windows Server experience, and disaster recovery experience are essential.
- Proven experience in supporting a Windows Server domain utilising operating systems 2016 and above, including the ongoing maintenance and support from both an operational and security perspective, while also having strong knowledge of services such as Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS.
- Required skills also include previous experience in an AWS cloud environment, scripting/automation (PowerShell/Python), cloud provisioning/configuration, strong DevOps understanding, and a focus on cost-effectiveness. The role demands challenging conventional infrastructure ideas (PaaS, serverless), collaborating with design teams, good customer-facing and diagnostic skills, and the ability to interpret business requirements, work under pressure, and automate deployments (infrastructure as code). Experience with multiple technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP, Cisco, Checkpoint) and various infrastructure architectures is preferred, with proven experience in supporting and configuring Amazon Connect.
Desirable:
- Azure & Google Cloud experience; Linux administration; MCSA/E/D; SC Cleared
- Full driving license.
- Also advantageous: Broad technology experience with pragmatic application; Azure cloud & Entra ID expertise; Ability to translate complex technical issues; Experience designing fault-tolerant, auto-scaling, financially-efficient systems; High-volume transactional systems, performance tuning, and full life cycle design/management of mission-critical distributed processing systems; CI/CD pipeline creation and support; SQL and NoSQL database experience (SQL Server, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
