Service Manager - Rygor Plant

Your Role
At Rygor Plant, part of the Rygor Group, we have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Service Manager to oversee the technical side of our Plant business. Working with technicians and reporting into the site manager, you will ensure workshop and remote work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Managing workflow and ensuring high levels of organisation, you will be pivotal in ensuring delivery of exceptional customer service to our plant customers (include Mecalac).
This role includes implementing maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and will combine your technical expertise with strong organisation and leadership skills to maintain safety, productivity, and quality standards.
Day to day, you will:
- Ensure workshop and mobile technician health, safety and compliance.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement among team members.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the plant technicians, ensuring smooth and efficient maintenance and repairs.
- Allocate and prioritise tasks for the technicians based on project deadlines and equipment needs.
- Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all plant equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose faults, identify repair needs, and ensure timely resolution of mechanical or technical issues.
- Manage inspections, servicing, and testing of equipment to meet operational and safety standards.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor technicians, including training programmes, 121s and annual appraisals.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations
- Monitor workshop inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of spare parts and consumables.
- Prepare and manage the workshop budget, tracking costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate job card records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment history and ensure workshop loading is correctly updated.
- Generate reports on workshop performance, equipment reliability, and downtime and utilise to improve technician utilisation and efficiency.
- Collaborate with management to identify and resolve operational challenges.

Skills & Behaviours Required for this Role:
Qualification - You will need to be level 3 (NVQ or City and Guilds or IMI Qualification) in HGV Vehicle Repair and maintenance and/or plant repair and maintenance.
Leadership - Creating a team which works together is all about exceptional leadership which inspires those around them to do their best and deliver exceptional customer service. Great leaders listen, are empathetic and lead by example.
Resilience - A resilient person is someone who has strong coping skills and can draw on these when life presents challenges. This is important when negotiating and selling for Rygor Plant, therefore previous experience in a similar role within the construction industry is required.
Motivation - To ensure personal and team success, being motivated is essential and is a key part of your role and it is part of being a brilliant team player.
Attention to Detail- Precision in diagnosing issues and conducting repairs to ensure vehicles meet safety and performance standards.
Time Management- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks within timeframes to meet customer demands and maintain workshop efficiency.
Communication- This role requires an individual with strong verbal and written communication skills, to communicate with all stakeholders.
