In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
An exciting opportunity to join our intermediate care team within ESHT. This is a secondment or fixed term contract opportunity of up to 6 months to provide operational oversight of our intermediate care units at Bexhill Hospital, Rye Hospital and our nursing staff within Milton Grange in Eastbourne.
You will work closely with our Head of Nursing, Matrons, ACP's, Therapy Leads to maintain high levels of operational oversight of the flow within our units.
You should have a good understanding of staff management, discharge pathways, problem solving, MDT working, and working with key stakeholders such as Adult Social Care, League of Friends, Charities, Volunteers and ICS.
The base for this post will be Bexhill Irvine Unit, but travel across all 3 areas will be required. Visible leadership is required.

Main duties of the job
- Support the CHIC OPEL daily calls including operational flow into the IMC units.
- Attend the BIU and Rye Board Runs.
- Provide leadership and support to the IMC Matrons/Clinical Therapy Leads/Operational Support Officer - making sure that we are up to date with HR issues.
- Finance oversight of the IMC units.
- Recruitment oversight of the IMC units.
- Escalation of Long length of Stay patients to the HON.
- Managing data in relation to ALOS, RCS score, PCAT scores, P2A-D, NWB, Stroke data.
- Completing Integrated Performance Reports.
- Visible leadership to Bexhill Irvine Unit, Rye Hospital and Milton Grange.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or proven equivalent experience, skills and knowledge demonstrable.
- Recognised leadership / management qualification or equivalent training and experience.
- Budget management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Evidence of ongoing relevant professional training and development to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Professional healthcare qualification, with current registration
- Additional qualifications relevant to CU
Experience
Essential criteria
- A broad range of in-depth clinical and/ or managerial experience at a senior level in NHS or a similar large complex organisation.
- Demonstrates an ability to critically analyse, problem solve and prioritise. Experience of effective management of health care services
- Evidence of service delivery and of holding others to accoun
- Proven experience of staff management
- Experience of managing budgets.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience in a similar role in NHS
- Experience of undertaking service improvement audit
- Previous experience of project management
