Service Manager Home to School Travel
This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
Job description
Full Time, Permanent
Home to School Travel in Bristol is a service that works closely with parents and carers to support access to school or college for eligible pupils.
Around 1400 children travel with us every school day, and many others are supported through bus passes or personal travel budgets. Most of the children and young people travelling have an Education, Health and Care Plan, so that their needs have to be carefully considered when they are allocated transport. The Service is in the middle of a transformation programme that has already seen significant improvements in efficiency whilst demand for the Service increases year on year.
You will be organised, have experience of running a busy and dynamic live operational service and will be able to deliver higher level reporting and service information. You will also manage a staff team, working with contractors around travel contracts, and having contact with parents, carers and schools for a sustainable, safe and responsive Service. This could include escalating safeguarding referrals to First Response or the LADO as the primary safeguarding lead for the day to day operations.
We are looking for someone with empathy and understanding around special educational needs and disabilities, and ideally, experience of working with or for children; you will be a resilient and experienced operational leader who is ambitious in seeking to deliver the best service possible.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
