About The Role

Are you ready to lead a transformational journey? Dorset Council is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Finance and Commercial Management team and lead our Commercial and Procurement Service, paving the way for excellence, efficiency, and innovation.

You'll be joining Dorset Council at a truly exciting time. As well as leading the Councils' commercial and procurement function, your service transformation skills will enable you to grow strong relationships, developing joint capability and unlocking positive service outcomes.

You will play an integral part in leading the preparation for the changes that flow national legislation; The Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 and The Procurement Act 2023.

What you can expect to be doing:

In this senior and strategic role, you'll be working with Executive level officers from across the Council , delivering significant influence over the procurement and contract management performance across the entire Council .

At a local level , you'll be a key contributor in supporting the commercial and procurement activity underpinning the successful delivery of the Councils £400m capital plan - including major infrastructure projects such as Levelling Up Fund (LUF), Family Hubs and new Adult Care reablement homes.

You will l ead the development and implementation of a commercial vision and strategy for the Council , including the training , development and resources to drive commercial transformation . Working across the organisation , you'll lead the development of commercial acumen to deliver the commercial strategy and driv e change.

About you:

It is a given that you will be an experienced procurement professional with a sound background in public sector procurement.

You'll be able to apply your public sector procurement expertise to lead a proactive, creative, adaptable, and effective approach to procurement .

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
