Project Description

One of the biggest UK rail network companies operating with rail infrastructure and asset management has a need to develop and support enterprise-level information systems.

A Service Transition Analyst accepts products, determines whether they are fit for purpose and assesses readiness against agreed service acceptance criteria. We will expect you to:

1.Take ownership of all activities in transitioning IT Services into a new or existing environment with minimal disruption to production services and operations.
2.Ability to Work closely across multiple areas. This includes both Service and Project Teams. To ensure that high-quality IT services are designed, transitioned and operate successfully in the live environment. This will include any supporting systems and tools, production/review of processes and artifacts, skills review and knowledge transfer.
3.Work autonomously on multiple projects, directing resources and activities, and managing tight and changing deadlines. This often means being flexible in managing multiple tasks and activities at the same time, whilst retaining a clear view of what needs to be delivered and by when
4.Make recommendations on go-live, early-life support and service acceptance
5.Assume responsibility for ensuring that the acceptance criteria are understood by the wider IT operations

Responsibilities

    We require a Service Design & Transition Manager capability operating within the Trains Portfolio to work effectively with stakeholders in IT Support Services, across the business and the wider rail industry, as well as the supplier community to achieve successful outcomes.
    This Service Design & Transition Manager capability shall engage with stakeholders and suppliers across all stages of the respective project lifecycles including mobilisation, design, and delivery phases.
    • Define service requirements
    • Produce the service plan
    • Define Knowledge Transition approach and plan
    • Schedule and facilitate Knowledge Transition workshops
    • Plan and deliver service workshops
    • Define path to live for Early Life Support plan (including entry and exit criteria)
    • Contribute to review of project artefacts as defined in the Network Rail delivery lifecycle
    • Contribute to all Quality Gates as defined in the Network Rail Quality Gate lifecycle
    • Produce service progress report to Project Managers (frequency and content to be defined by Project Managers)
    • Contribute to project meetings
    • Plan and deliver service rehearsals
    • Assist in the development of service agreements with the NR Contracts & Procurement team
    The Service Design & Transition Manager shall provide additional support to assist with the following deliverables should the need arise:
    • PID/Remits
    • Project Plan
    • RAID log
    • Outline Business Case
    • Updated investment paper
    • Business Change Management Strategy and Plan
    • Draft Service Acceptance Criteria

Skills

Must have

    • Proven experience in Service Management including Service Design & Service Transition (this role is aligned to the ITIL v4 framework ITIL Specialist - Create, Deliver & Support or ITIL v3 qualified to Service Design & Transition Lifecycle/Capabilities (Intermediate Level) or equivalent experience
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience
    • Excellent communicator across all levels
    • Good understanding & experience in using service management tools
    • Management of Risk

Nice to have

    • Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry or equivalent.
    • Demonstrates good working knowledge of management structures and reporting procedure
    • Understanding of risk management
    • Experience in Service Deployment Methodologies such as; 'Agile', Rapid Applications Deployment or Dynamic Solution Deployment Methodology
    • Formal Project and Programme Management qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2 and MSP or equivalent lifecycle experience
