Interview Date(s): Interviews will take place on Thursday 14th November.Please note, there will be a Formal Panel interview and Young People's panel interview. All candidates would need to be available for both panels and be able to allow up to 2 hours for the interview process

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our service as a JNC qualified Senior Youth Worker within the Youth & Justice service.

Leicestershire Youth and Justice service offers a range of statutory and non-statutory interventions for children & young people experiencing difficulties that cannot be supported by universal services alone. We work with children 11-18 yrs who are experiencing a variety of challenges and who need our support

This post is a countywide role (based at County Hall) working across our Youth and Justice service. You will work alongside your peers, team leaders and our wider staff team's.

You will be part of a small, supportive and creative team of Senior Youth Workers who all lead on different areas of work across the county, as well as holding a small caseload of our higher risk vulnerable children that could be either statutory or voluntary engagement

Your lead area role will be supporting our team leaders in the accessing youth work referrals for our service to ensure that our children & young people are offered the right level of support & intervention. We are looking for someone who is persistent, engaging and is able to build relationships swiftly whilst being open, honest & transparent with the children & families you engage with.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • A recognised JNC Qualification AND significant experience working with children and families.
  • Experience & evidence of developing, planning, and implementing creative and innovative interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of children, young people and their families/ carers based on youth work principles.
  • Knowledge and experience of gathering child's voice and how children can participate and influence decision-making.
  • Experience of writing assessments, completing robust risk assessments, report writing and use of case management systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge & experience of understanding the risk associated with harm, offending and re-offending.
  • Experience of working with complex families & the ability to communicate clearly & quickly whilst having the ability to actively listen, critical think which then enables you to create and deliver informed decisions and assessments.
  • Experience of working closely with partner agencies & professional across a variety of sectors to ensure that children & their parents / carers receive the right service for them to meet their needs

  • A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
  • A full driving licence & access to a car is required for this post
  • The post requires Flexible working that sometimes is outside of the normal working 9-5 day and will include am element of evening working .
