About the Role

Liberty Specialty Markets are looking for a self-motivated Senior Wordings Specialist to work in close collaboration with Casualty underwriters and Claims teams on General Liability products - primarily, Employers' Liability, Public Liability, Product Liability, Environmental Liability among others.

The role offers a great opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of underwriting and claims. We are looking for an inquisitive candidate with a desire to influence strategic projects, with the support of a collaborative team.

About the Department & Team

The Contract Wordings Management team is currently made up of eight members reporting to the Head of Contract Wordings Management. The team offers underwriters skilled technical wordings analysis and drafting expertise in product development. Additionally, the team are also responsible for updating the underwriting and management teams on regulatory changes and to ensure that the wordings comply with the consumer requirements, where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and updating LSM products in collaboration with underwriters, underwriting management, Legal and various internal and external parties as necessary
  • Engage with and advise Underwriters on Contract changes.
  • Assist in designing and maintaining wording review thresholds and outline review criteria in collaboration with Underwriters, underwriting management and Underwriting Performance Management.
  • Providing timely review of wordings and associated documentation and provision to underwriters of appropriate and solutions-based feedback.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives in the Contract Wordings team and provision of technical resource to other initiatives as required.
  • Communicate and negotiate with external clients and LSM colleagues (in particular Underwriting, Claims, Risk, Legal & Compliance) in order to establish and build good working relationships.
  • Attend and contribute to underwriter and claims meetings, business planning, feedback on trends, product and market intelligence gathering and provision of training as required.
  • Attending external meetings in respect of wordings and technical matters at Lloyds Market Association and other external organisations.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and producing reports as required and distributing information to Senior and Divisional Management to ensure awareness of current status and to identify improvements to current processes.
  • The role will be primarily working with the casualty class, assistance on other classes and projects as and when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in drafting and contract review either via their role in wordings, legal, claims, compliance or other similar insurance roles.
  • Current knowledge of wordings and technical requirements relating to London Market placements of insurance across various classes including, Marine Aviation, FINPRO, Casualty, Property, (Direct, & Facultative) business.
  • Working knowledge of Excess of Loss and other classes of business is desirable.
  • Ability to work in a tight deadline environment
  • Possess flexibility and adaptability to manage changing work requirements and varying volumes of work proactively.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills
