We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Senior Water Treatment Technician to join our team based in Okehampton. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary up to £35,150.00 per annum plus a range of excellent company benefits + rewards.

About the role:

As our Senior Water Treatment Technician, you will provide flexible cover to support existing operation teams, depending on resource need and priority, working in various locations across the beautiful South West. This is a great opportunity for someone who is ambitious, wanting to help lead a team to success and take that next step towards management.

In this role, there will be plenty of opportunities to take ownership over various project work to get stuck into. You will be writing working procedures and instructions, involved in H&S improvements, meeting contractors, raising quotes and bring an array of new fresh ideas to the table to improve processes.

You will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of various maintenance activities including tank cleaning, planning plant shutdowns for projects, optimising different processes and other activities, as well as opportunities to deputised for the operational management team when required.

What you'll be doing:

    • Providing flexible and varied support to the regional water resources and production operation depending on operational priorities and requirements
    • Planning, coordinating and delivering programmes of planned maintenance work (e.g. site reservoir, contact tank and process unit cleaning)
    • Preparing documentation such as risk assessments and method statements associated with work activity
    • Reviewing site procedures and manuals and updating as necessary
    • Providing hands on support to treatment operation by providing relief or additional cover as and where required and participating in standby rota to provide out of hours support
    • Maintain familiarity of the operation of a wide range of sites
    • Ensuring that drinking water quality and production are maintained within standards and in response to demand
    • Participate in standby rota

What we are looking for:

      Essential
    • 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade A to C including Maths and English.
    • HNC in Water Operations or equivalent
    • Experience in leadership/ supervision of operational sector
    • Full UK Drivers Licence
    • Desirable

    • NVQ 3 in Operating Process Plant - or working towards it
    • Management qualification - or working towards it
    • Hands-on operation and maintenance of water treatment process and plant
    • Experience in Mechanical, electrical, ICA or scientific operations
