Contract Type: 12-month secondment/fixed term

About the Role

The Senior Water Projects Officer role based within the Compliance and Consultancy Team is responsible for the daily management of the council's water self-supply license, as well as implementing water efficiency projects across the council estate. The role works with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally; most notably the internal Utilities Team and external Severn Trent Water and MOSL (water operator) ensuring the council remains compliant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team on either a 12-month fixed term contract or 12-month secondment to cover maternity leave. This role is critical in maintaining our water self-supply license, with the individual managing the daily operations of the license as well as being the main point of contact for any queries. The role is unique and therefore the successful individual will receive training in order to upskill knowledge in the area and complete tasks related to compliance.

This is a great development opportunity for someone who would like to further their knowledge of the council property portfolio and water industry.

The role is being advertised as part-time, however there is scope to extend this to full-time, with the additional time being spent supporting the Compliance and Consultancy Team with a range of administrative and project tasks.

About You

We are seeking a proactive and forward-thinking colleague to join our team who has an interest in how they can support us to monitor and reduce consumption and save the council money.

They should have strong analytical and report writing skills, be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. As well as this, it will be beneficial for the candidate to be familiar with the financial and procurement processes within the council and have experience in delivering projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven ability to manage own priorities and work under pressure with multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, and proactive. A commitment to working flexibly to changing demands and tight timescales.
  • Experience of working on projects.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and support among colleagues and citizens from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to analyse complex data, identify solutions, draw conclusions and communicate recommendations.
  • The ability to visit and inspect buildings and construction sites and undertake water reads as required.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
