About the Role

Base Location: Perth, Edinburgh or Glasgow

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Valuation Analyst to join our team within Energy Markets. As a senior member of the Market Risk team, you will play an important part in fostering a culture of innovation and improvement, helping generate ideas and seeing them brought to fruition.

As part of your role you will:

- You will undertake a key role in the business as a senior member of the team responsible for the economic valuation and risk analysis of long-term structured deals and new asset opportunities in GB, Ireland and Europe. There will be a focus on renewable PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) and battery opportunities across markets.

- You will assess the risks associated with structured power deals (e.g. liquidity, shape, capture, imbalance) and the valuation models used for trading and hedging in wholesale energy markets and engage with the wider Market Risk function to develop the appropriate risk control framework.

- You will provide quantitative modelling expertise and collaborate with commercial quantitative teams to progress with pricing assumptions and valuation and risk models.

- You will develop tools for ongoing long term portfolio reviews and produce analysis and insight to senior management and exec teams to support strategic decision making.

- You will act as a representative for Market Risk on strategic projects and collaborate with other support functions (e.g. Finance) for deal support and insight.

- You will be comfortable with big data and demonstrate a flair for creating innovative solutions to meet changing needs and requirements.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Strong mathematical modelling, business analysis and problem-solving skills will be essential to your success in this role. Coding knowledge (Python or equivalent) will also be highly beneficial.

- You will have energy market risk knowledge and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the European wholesale energy markets and market risk fundamentals.

- You will have knowledge of option products and be a highly analytical thinker who can distil complex information and communicate on various levels.

- Professional qualifications such as the FRM or ERP qualification from the Global Association of Risk Professional (or equivalent) would be advantageous.

- You will be comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders within the company and effective in building strong working relationships with other business areas.

- Experience leading and developing an effective specialist team would be advantageous.
