About the role

The eCommerce team is looking for 1 Senior UX Writer to join the team until December 2025.

You are a skilled end-to-end Senior UX Writer who has experience in user-centred design thinking. You understand what differentiates copywriting from UX writing and have the portfolio to prove it. You can plan and deliver a clearly defined and intelligently planned content strategy in order to deliver exciting products and services across John Lewis & Partners.

Importantly, you can bring stakeholders on this journey.

You’re an expert at translating complex, commercial and technical briefs into intuitive customer-friendly experiences that are accessible for all. You can alternate between working on granular iterations of microcopy to designing and problem-solving large-scale conceptual and strategically-aligned pieces. Ideally, you have experience working in Agile and understand what is required to 'work lean' – working closely with your colleagues to iterate and learn quickly.

Some of the key responsibilities:

  • Planning, designing and writing user-centred copy for the John Lewis website, app and other touchpoints

  • Working alongside Product Designers in multidisciplinary, Agile product teams

  • Exploring copy and design solutions using a ‘test and learn’ approach

  • Analysing quantitative and qualitative data and insight sources from discovery to form evidence-based copy

  • Providing a holistic view of the content experience and mapping across all omnichannel touchpoints

  • Planning and facilitating workshops to align stakeholders, establishing customer, business and project requirements to identify risks and dependencies

  • Helping drive design and copy quality, consistency and great ways of working between teams through a regular feedback process with your line manager as well as the wider Product team

  • Advocating and creating inclusive design solutions following W3C accessibility standards

  • Making sure content recommendations are aligned with brand, tone of voice guidelines and proposition/services objectives

  • Supporting the UX Writing Manager in creating and socialising the UXwriting strategy and guidelines

  • Building relationships across the business in order to support and influence all aspects of the customer experience

  • Advocating for the Experience Design team and user-centred design in the wider Partnership and sharing UX writing best practice.

Essential skills you’ll need

  • Relevant content design or UX writing experience for digital channels

  • Display a good understanding of UX processes using human-centred methods and a test and learn approach

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and excellent stakeholder management skills
