About Tumelo
Tumelo is an investor-backed, financial technology company on a mission to
equip all investors to wield their voting power.
Millions of ordinary people contribute to our investment system through ISAs,
workplace pensions, and other investments. Yet most have no visibility over where
their money is going and no voice in the many companies they own through their
investments. The result? A society that is disengaged and an investment system that
is failing to address critical social, environmental and governance challenges.
Tumelo's technology empowers stock market investors - such as pension members,
retail investors, and asset owners - by increasing their awareness and connecting
them directly to the companies they invest in, giving them a voice and influence over
corporate decisions. We believe big companies have the power to break or make our
planet. What shareholders demand, and hold them accountable for, really matters.
About the role
We're looking for a talented Senior UX/UI Designer to join us on a 16-month
contract covering a maternity leave position, starting immediately.
This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced designer who has a passion for
both UX and UI design, and who thrives in creating intuitive, visually compelling user
experiences. You'll take full ownership of the front end, optimising and expanding our
product for global audiences as we prepare to enter new markets in the EU and the
US.
Who you are
- 4+ years of full-time UX/UI design experience.
- A portfolio that demonstrates expertise in both disciplines of UX and UI.
- Ability to work autonomously, with confidence in making decisions and
executing designs independently. - Excellent visual, UI and user research skills.
- Experience designing end-to-end product workflows, ideally for B2B, from early
concepts to polished mockups. Skilled in taking a structured approach to design,
including creating and managing components in Figma. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate the reasoning
behind your designs. Ability to collaborate with wider stakeholders and assist
with both market and user research efforts. - Proficient in using design tools, Figma and Adobe software is crucial.
- Excited to hit the ground running in a temporary but impactful role. A self-
starter who thrives on autonomy and is proactive in working with cross-
functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
What you'll do
- Deep understanding of our product: Take full ownership of the product's
user experience and interface by quickly understanding current design flows,
product structure, market landscape and user needs. - Lead design execution: Create polished, high-quality UI assets to drive
ongoing product development, support upcoming customer launches and adapt
interfaces for multi-language compatibility in line with our global expansion
goals. - Scalable & systems solutions: You'll design components that balance
functionality, usability, and visual appeal, collaborating closely with Engineers to
ensure smooth integration. Maintain and evolve our design system for unified
consistency with our brand identity. - Optimisation for growth: Identify and lead key enhancements to support our
expanding customer base. Drive meaningful optimisations that address evolving
user and customer needs, ensuring a seamless and adaptable product
experience as we grow. - Product discovery & market research: Collaborate with Product and Sales
teams on concept testing, usability studies, and discovery sessions to gather
insights on our customer base and regulatory landscape, driving new features
and expanding our product offering. Comfortable creating discussion guides,
coordinating recruitment (internally or with third-party recruiters), conducting
interviews, analysing results and sharing insights promptly with the team. - Flexibility & autonomy: Opportunity to apply your expertise to broader
design projects on brand and marketing, bringing added value to our
collaborative, agile team.
