Job Description
The Senior Underwriter will build out the Ports & Terminals sub-class into its own Class over the next couple of years. Logistics will sit within this. Associated income will move from ~£6m to £15m-£20m by the end of 2026. This individual should become Class Uwr during 2026 should targets be hit and progress good within WSM.
Responsibilities
- Writing additional income within the Ports & Terminals sub-class.
- Acquiring an additional proportion of Lead positions within this product line.
- Connecting with relevant brokers.
- Management and bringing on of UA, likely Joe Jarvis.
- Working with Cat Management team and accurately capturing first-party exposures.
- Making sure Cat exposures are within adequate parameters and relaying that to key stake holders
- Bringing in associated Marine Liability business within overall appetite at WSM.
- Educating others within team on Ports business an relevant issues and helping to establish good culture at WSM.
- Improving the accuracy of the existing model at WSM, should that be required.
- Relevant travel to key clients and brokers, as required.
Qualifications
- 10 years underwriting experience minimum, with some Class Underwriter exposure preferably.
- Active interest in the maritime sector industries is desirable.
- Good IT skills - including intermediate Excel (ability to use formulae effectively and produce graphical data), and other Windows Office and Adobe applications.
- Understanding of Cat management processes and return period analysis.
