We're looking for a strategic leader to head up our Training & Competency (T&C) function within Engineering & Baggage. This is a pivotal role, responsible for driving technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and inclusive development pathways across our workforce.

As Senior T&C Manager, you'll lead a high-performing team, oversee award-winning apprenticeship and graduate programmes, and ensure our competency frameworks are future-ready. You'll collaborate across the business, manage resources effectively, and provide assurance to senior leadership on the impact of our training and competency systems.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and delivering a long-term vision for training and competency across Engineering & Baggage.
  • Leading and developing the T&C team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing apprenticeship and graduate schemes aligned with professional accreditation bodies.
  • Managing budgets, leveraging the Apprenticeship Levy, and ensuring value for money.
  • Driving digital enablement and internal verification processes.
  • Championing STEM and outreach programmes to build a diverse talent pipeline.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in training and competency management within a technical environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, competency-based frameworks, and professional registration.
  • Budget and resource management experience.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and CMS tools.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Level 3+ in Engineering, L&D or related field.
  • Level 4 IQA, Train the Trainer (AET), Assessor (ACWE), and Safeguarding qualifications.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
