Dentsu media is looking for an experienced Senior Trading Director to support the Global Head of Trading, to lead the trading capability globally within the Amplifi platform.

As media has become more commoditised, digital first and transactional increasing value from new strategic developments is key to delivering against our proposition of value for all' Sanpo Yoshi'. Our advertiser clients require their agency to develop short, medium and longer-term strategies that create efficiencies in the shorter term that can be utilised in different ways i.e. realising savings or creating new effectiveness for their products and services through brand equity via their media trading.

This role will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of our trading strategy at a global, regional and local level. The role will be responsible for developing specific trading strategies against our partnership model which includes categorisation of the supply-side at a global level of: Enterprise, Alternative Network and hyper growth partners. The role will also work with the go-to market team with the scaling of the existing products and solutions including Agyle, our principal trading model.

The Amplifi global team are structured around three areas: (1) Design (2) Enable and (3) Deliver. The enablement is core purpose of trading although works across design and delivery - We define these as following:

Design: Translating holistic client and business needs into focused and tangible strategy with a commercial focus.

Enable: Converting strategic blueprints into actionable partnership agreements structured to maximise value and impact for our clients and our markets.

Deliver: Activation of commercial frameworks, products and solutions across our markets and clients. Ensure client and market feedback is driving clarity within 'design process'.

The role will report into the Global Head of Trading, Amplifi which is the commercial partnership and investment platform for Dentsu.

The successful candidate will have at least 10-15 years' professional experience within the media and advertising industry, with strong knowledge of commercialisation process and pricing models used within the industry and more broadly.

Internal and external focus will be required with education, operational processes and key stakeholder management being applied to all elements of the role. There will be a requirement to travel internationally to local market teams (as appropriate) in order to achieve success in this role.

The trading team are located in London, New York and Singapore and time will need to be spent physically with this team but re-location is not required if the candidate resides outside of these geographies.

  • Investment Management: Local management of productivity and all media buying and activation across all media channels to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • Trading: Leverage our group buying power to enable innovation and product development with the supply side to provide a competitive offering for our clients and sustainable media income for dentsu.
  • Entertainment Content: Enabling new business models through content development, financing, acquisition, and distribution.
  • Supply-Side management: The three pillars are all under-pinned by Supply-side management for dentsu. This is focused on the modernisation of our approach including the one entity for the management of all media owner procurement with a clear focus on robust and rigorous processes.

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to lead and profitably grow our priority/key client relationships. Responsible for building a senior and trusted relationship with the client. Understanding the needs of the client's business and identifying opportunities for the Dentsu network to support them across its range of services. Lead and manage the client team and capabilities required to deliver business driving ideas and solutions for the client. Ultimately, increasing Dentsu's share of wallet with that client. To be a key business partner for the senior clients in the portfolio, a go to consultant to help them map the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Seeking out opportunities to evolve the client's view of the value add of all media and maximises the use of our operating model
  • Developing relationships with the most senior clients through a deep understanding of the brand, to be viewed as a trusted advisor and strategist of their business
  • Deep understanding of the insurance/finance industry and its consumers to fully grasp both the challenges and opportunities the brand faces.
  • Co-creating effective solutions with the client
  • Developing the key strategic development plans for each client, inclusive of all relevant markets and dentsu operating companies and ensures that the global service model and collaborating between operating companies is optimal for each client
  • Developing and delivering the annual business plan for the client. Identifies opportunities for growth for the client's business and our product offerings
  • Striving for continuous improvement and consistency across all markets and in everything we do product, processes, relationship management, people and financial practices
  • Understanding nuances and internal political dynamics of each region to lead on a global vision and strategy that is sustainable in time as well as performance driven.
  • Expertly navigating the contract which is negotiated at the global level
  • Developing the client's business and income opportunities, delivering agreed financial targets
  • Increasing client base through more targeted and effective new business
  • Providing specialist technical advice on subject areas and proactively involves, and works with, specialist teams when required
  • Presenting integrated offerings to clients
