ABOUT THE ROLE
This senior technician role will provide effective technical support for research and teaching in the faculty of Engineering and Environment, within department of Maths, Physics and Electrical Engineering (MPEE) with a specific focus on electrical engineering, PCB/electronics and HV power systems whilst also providing support to other labs areas as required. The role holder will work within a dynamic and multi-skilled technical team to support research and teaching activity within the department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of facilities in the HV teaching lab at Northumbria University, working closely with academic colleagues to ensure an exceptional experience for students

ABOUT THE TEAM
The MPEE technical team are responsible for to day-to-day operation and safety of a range of laboratories, workshops and specialist spaces in the Faculty of Engineering and Environment. There is often a need to work with staff or students with different areas of expertise to support collaboration with colleagues from the broader faculty. The team work closely with academic colleagues to provide and excellent student experience through their support of teaching and research activity.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role you will have experience of electrical and electronic engineering equipment, and be confident in teaching the use of it. You will be able to effectively work both independently and as part of a team and have excellent inter-personal skills. It is essential to have an in depth knowledge of current health and safety legislation and to promote a positive attitude towards it.
