About the role
The technical team at Nottingham School of Art & Designis looking to expand its team of bank staff to support across the school. This is a casual role with no fixed hours and supports the team during busy periods, evenings and/or weekends.

As a Senior Technician, you will work under the direction of theTechnical Specialist and the Technical Team Leader for the area to provide support to students. Senior Technicians support undergraduate and postgraduate students during workshops and self-directed study, creating a positive and encouraging environment. This may involve delivering inductions and technical demonstrations as well as the day-to-day management of the workshop. You will work with students across various skill levels. The post holder will be responsible for the safe use of the workshop, equipment and machinery upkeep as well delivering inductions on certain equipment and/or processes. We are looking for specialist in the one or more of the following areas:

1. Leather- hand and machine processes

2. Weave- experience with table looms, ARM and George Wood looms

3. Adobe Creative Suite and other software

4. Wood/hard materials

5. Knitwear- Hand flat Dubied, domestic knitting, garment construction, Shima and Stoll machine programming

6. Digital print- knowledge of printers (laser, large format and imposition software)

7. Garment construction- experience constructing garments on industrial sewing machines

What we are looking for
You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently within a team. You will be able to communicate ideas of a complex and technical nature to students, using a variety of methods and have detailed knowledge of the workshop and/or industry experience.

Experience is essential in the following areas:

1. Broad range of knowledge in your specific field, both digital and hand techniques as appropriate

2. Good problem solving and practical skills on a range of equipment and techniques.

3. Good awareness of health and safety withina workshop environment.
