Salary: £34,350 - £37,950 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
Working Hours: Full Time, 37 Hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician to join our Structures Team at Leicestershire County Council, one of the best performing councils in the country. The successful applicant will join a motivated friendly team of professionals committed to delivering public sector structural maintenance and improvement schemes that offer best value for money whilst simultaneously pushing the boundaries of innovation in construction. Our team has a track record of delivering robust solutions from feasibility through to construction. You will be responsible for undertaking structural inspections and contributing to the design and delivery of highway structures schemes as part of our capital maintenance and improvement programme.
The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.
About You
To apply for this post, you must hold or have:
- A BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working in an engineering setting, including design, management, maintenance or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure.
- Experience of inspecting highway structures in accordance with current guidance and identify, prioritise and prepare estimates for appropriate maintenance works.
- Experience of preparing technical reports, including bridge inspection reports.
- Good knowledge of current highway design standards and construction techniques, asset management principles and maintenance standards.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Good IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
- Strong analytical and creative thinking, planning and organisational skills.
