Role Overview:
As the Compliance and HSQE Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) compliance across the Lining Division. You will be responsible for monitoring, auditing, and improving HSQE systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant industry regulations. This hands-on role requires working closely with internal teams to promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. HSQE Compliance & Monitoring:
    • Oversee all HSQE activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, including ISO standards and UK-specific safety laws.
    • Monitor and audit workplace practices to ensure they align with HSQE policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
    • Ensure environmental sustainability practices are upheld and compliance with relevant environmental legislation.
  2. Safety Leadership & Incident Management:
    • Lead the development and implementation of safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
    • Respond to incidents, lead investigations, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
    • Ensure all safety reports, records, and certifications are maintained and up to date.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness across all levels of the organisation through training and ongoing communication.
  3. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
    • Manage the quality assurance process, ensuring all work meets required quality standards.
    • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational quality and safety performance.
    • Conduct audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and driving corrective action.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate quality and safety best practices into daily operations.
  4. Environmental Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, emissions control, and resource conservation.
    • Monitor environmental impact and implement strategies to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
    • Conduct environmental audits and assessments, ensuring the company's operations are sustainable and compliant with relevant laws.
  5. Training & Development:
    • Develop and deliver HSQE training programmes to ensure all employees understand and adhere to safety, quality, and environmental protocols.
    • Lead safety meetings and training sessions, encouraging a proactive approach to health and safety.
    • Work with department heads to ensure ongoing employee development in HSQE areas.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in HSQE management, preferably within the construction, water, or utilities sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and UK regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in conducting audits, managing compliance systems, and implementing safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams.
  • A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to safety, quality, and environmental management.

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification is desirable.
  • Project management certification is advantageous.
