About the Role & Team
The jobholder is responsible for leading the technical and managerial aspects of large-scale, complex construction projects. This role involves ensuring the highest standards of building safety, quality, and compliance are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. The Senior Technical Manager will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide strategic guidance, and oversee all technical aspects of construction, from initial planning to project delivery.
Due to growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to lead a project in the South East London area. The role will be based on-site with occasional travel to our head office in Uxbridge.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Oversight:
- Provide expert technical leadership, reviewing and approving designs, specifications, and construction methods.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimise project efficiency and safety.
- Ensure adherence to building safety regulations and standards, including the management of competency requirements across the team.
- Lead technical audits and inspections, ensuring quality control and compliance with all legal and contractual obligations.
Strategic Project Management:
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of complex construction projects, ensuring alignment with applicable standards and legislation.
- Oversee the coordination of all technical activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
Health, Safety & Environment:
- Ensure all projects comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a focus on maintaining high safety standards.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Leadership & Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of construction managers, engineers, and other technical staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance:
- Oversee the technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Quality Control:
- Lead the implementation of robust quality management systems, ensuring all construction activities meet the required standards.
Sustainability and Innovation:
- Champion sustainable construction practices, and broader industry standards.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Oversee the production of the working drawings, details and specifications from external consultants for onward distribution and discussion with internal departments.
Regular interfaces with:
- London Square Teams e.g. Onsite Construction Team, Commercial, Health & Safety and Sales.
- Contractors and Consultant Design Team.
- London Square / Square Roots Leadership Team.
Key Skills & Experience:
- At least 4 years' experience working as a Senior Technical Coordinator or Technical Manager.
- Proven ability of delivering design for projects on time, to budget and quality standards.
- Full up to date knowledge of building regulations and current industry standards.
- Up to date knowledge of best practice and latest products and specifications items available in the marketplace.
- Ability to demonstrate an up to date understanding of Health & Safety legislation and obligations.
- Knowledge of modern construction techniques including high rise concrete frame and high-risk buildings.
- Proven Experience of reading and accurately interpreting drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well with individuals at all levels
- Self-motivation with ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain professionalism.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously with the ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
- Innovative, flexible approach to work.
- Strong planning and organising abilities.
- IT Skills - Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications and project Management Tools.
- Professional qualification from a recognised institution, e.g. RICS, RIBA, CIOB desirable.
- Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 etc) or Equivalent industry experience.
