Play a critical role in bridging technical delivery with organisational priorities, ensuring digital products deliver real value for services and residents.
Join our Product Management and UX team to provide advanced technical leadership and expert advice on Digital, Data and Technology products. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence how digital products are selected, built, and governed across the organisation, making a real impact on service delivery and transformation.
Working closely with professionals and users across the organisation, you'll support the procurement, design, and implementation of complex technical products and solutions. You'll support Council Service Managers, senior leaders, and elected members to make informed, strategic decisions. Acting as a trusted technical authority, you'll help shape product direction from discovery through to live service. You'll be central to defining and maintaining technical product standards, ensuring all solutions are robust, secure, scalable, and aligned with DDaT strategy, architectural principles, and best practice.
This is a full-time, permanent role working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. You'll have the flexibility of hybrid working however the expectation is that you'll work from the office 2 days a week.
What you'll be doing
You'll manage a portfolio of technical standards and solution architectures, carrying out technical assessments and assurance activities. You'll operate at a high level in partner forums and client management settings to lead key discussions and negotiations, influencing outcomes through the agreement of strategic technical priorities, and providing authoritative technical direction. You'll own and maintain documentation across the Council's complex product landscape and be responsible for monitoring and assuring the technical implementation of products. You'll evaluate progress and ensure that expected business benefits are realised through effective and optimal use of solutions. In addition, you'll prioritise technical product requirements, developing and maintaining technical solution roadmaps and blueprints, and owning the technical product backlog. You'll contribute to new technical initiatives, respond to changes in governance or regulatory requirements, and support service development and transformation projects.
What you'll need
With substantial experience and a high level of proficiency in leading on all aspects of technical requirements, you'll be able to act as a trusted technical expert and manage a caseload of high-value digital products. You'll have a strong understanding of DDaT operations and delivery, enabling you to assess and define resource implications for new and evolving products and services, and support effective planning and delivery decisions. You'll bring demonstrable experience in product management, using recognised industry approaches such as Minimum Viable Product, Agile delivery methods including sprints, Kanban, and user stories. Alongside this, you be able to produce clear, high-quality technical documentation and other structured communications. Using excellent interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, you'll be able to collaborate, influence, and build strong professional relationships across multidisciplinary teams and organisational boundaries. You'll be comfortable in managing your own workload independently, prioritising effectively in a complex and fast-paced environment.
