Senior Technical Architect

About the Role:

You'll promote business enhancement and optimization through platform improvement, distributed software systems and integration patterns. You will use e-commerce and transactional processing systems knowledge to understand, develop, troubleshoot, refine, and oversee the platform technology approach, technical debt and development.

You will steer the development of future state technology architecture, introducing strategies and solutions to realise our goals.

You will report to the Director of IT Portfolio Management, and is a remote position.

You Will:

  • Analyze the present tech landscape to identify important shortcomings, outdated aspects, and recommend enhancements.
  • Lead the exploration and assessment of new technology trends to gauge potential effects on the enterprise and integration into existing systems.
  • Develop the integration architectures, design patterns, standards, and strategic plans for global integration requirements.
  • Lead teams, taking on the primary leadership role for system architecture and overall design.
  • Support business analysts, project managers, and IT executives by refining the scope,
  • Manage the technological aspects of project execution, from the initial planning stages through to deployment and ongoing support post-launch.
  • Direct the Architecture Review Board and oversee governance, assurance, and standardization efforts to ensure projects and products align with enterprise technology architecture guidelines.
  • Provide guidance on application or infrastructure development endeavours to align systems or infrastructure with our enterprise tech architecture and determines when adjustments to the tech architecture are required to accommodate immediate or future project needs.
  • Collaborate with essential partners to foster an infrastructure that is agile, scalable, and robust, meeting the product demands throughout the entirety of the product lifecycle.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of design and implementation experience in IT, with deep knowledge in two of the following (or similar) technical disciplines: infrastructure and network design, application development, application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, servers and storage, database management and operations, clustering technologies, virtualization, cloud technologies and Active Directory and protocols
  • Experience leading large or multiple dependent and connected teams
  • Understanding of system development life cycle methodologies (e.g., waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronise and stabilise, and DevOps)
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and networking systems. Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, React, Java etc
