Description

The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for supporting other senior members of the finance team within our central London office and oversee all group activities for SkyShowtime, liaising with key advisers as well as the tax teams within each of the two key shareholders. The individual has responsibility for all taxes for the group which operates across 22 territories internationally.

We welcome both full-time and part-time (4 days per week) applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all taxes across the SkyShowtime footprint, working closely with advisors to manage the group's international tax compliance obligations for corporate tax, VAT and employment taxes.
  • Support the tax provisioning process for the group working alongside finance teams and key advisors and ensure all tax risks are appropriately recognised.
  • Manage and ensuring all tax payments obligations are met in all jurisdictions, working closely with advisors.
  • Engage, as appropriate, and partner with business finance, and legal colleagues to support commercial activities and proactively identify, appraise and manage tax risks, this will also include liaison with tax teams within both of the joint venture's shareholders at Sky and Paramount.
  • Leading on various tax advisory projects providing practical advice to commercial teams on the tax impact of specific business transactions.
  • Assist with the initiation, development, review and implementation of the group Tax Strategy and tax control framework.
  • Support cross border transactions (M&A, new market entry & new entity setup) and an international subject matter expert.
  • In collaboration with other internal groups, support the review and implementation of transfer pricing documentation and policy.
  • Senior decision support on commercial projects relating to UK and overseas operations.
  • Establish a strong profile within the Group and be a key contact point and "go to" person for all things tax within your allocated businesses whilst working collaboratively with functional specialist colleagues (e.g., VAT, transfer pricing, employment tax, etc.) to provide a seamless service to the business.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Demonstrate a strong commercial UK & International corporate tax knowledge.
  • Developed awareness and practical working knowledge of tax accounting, international compliance and transfer pricing.
  • Good working understanding of, and ability to identify, VAT and employment tax issues.
  • Good project management skills, with experience with helping to manage stakeholders and coordinate international tax projects.
  • An ability to operate autonomously at a senior level and to be comfortable building relationships and partnering with senior finance and business personnel.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to formulate practical, commercial recommendations.
  • Ability to summarise and communicate complex technical issues to a non-tax audience.
  • Able to manage workload to tight deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks and work streams.

Essential

  • Post-qualification corporate tax experience, including significant exposure to international corporate tax matters.
  • Experience of large European or multinational groups.
  • Awareness of withholding, VAT, employment and other tax issues.
  • Professional qualification in accounting (ACA or equivalent).
  • Good collaborator with an ability to understand complex commercial and business issues and support the formulation of practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in communicating tax concepts to a non-tax audience and/or teams in overseas territories.

Desired

  • Commercial experience in ideally the Digital Advertising, Technology or Entertainment & Media sectors.
  • Big 4 background and experience within a large in-house multinational tax function.
