Location: Head Office, White City Place, West London
Contract type: Maternity Cover 12 months - Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

About the role:
We're looking for a Senior Tailoring Designer to join our design team and create beautiful, original, high-quality pieces that bring the Me+Em brand DNA to life. You'll be at the heart of our tailoring collections, blending trend-led inspiration with timeless design, while keeping a keen eye on commerciality, delivery, and target margins. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-end fashion environment and has a true passion for tailoring, fabric, and detail.
Responsibilities:
Design & Product
- Understand and design products that reflect the Me+Em brand positioning and meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with the Tailoring team to build stories, mood boards, and colour palettes for each collection.
- Take ownership of designing styles from initial research through sketches, artwork, spec packages, and prototype development with suppliers.
- Manage presentations of styles for Sketch & Swatch meetings and Proto meetings, working closely with the Head of Design and Design Director.
- Produce detailed tech packs and confidently liaise with suppliers and factories using PLM systems.
- Evaluate developments during selection meetings and offer suggestions to improve commerciality, pricing, or delivery.
- Oversee the full tailoring collection to ensure range breadth, outfit-building, and consistency with brand DNA.
- Anticipate and respond to customer and sales feedback to inform design decisions.
- Lead fit sessions with Garment Techs and Buyers, mentoring junior team members as needed.
- Monitor company and competitor products and pricing to support design developments and achieve price targets.
- Manage style critical paths, proactively resolving issues and escalating when necessary.
- Collaborate with Tailoring, Casuals, and Fabrics teams to ensure workload is balanced and deadlines are met.
External Awareness
- Identify and incorporate new trends into the range as appropriate.
- Build personal trend awareness through inspiration shopping, research, and other mediums.
- Stay informed of new technologies, trends, suppliers, and techniques.
- Conduct seasonal store visits with Design & Technical teams to monitor brand KPIs.
- Source fabrics that meet Me+Em customer expectations (e.g., washable, non-crease, luxurious, and distinctive).
- Meet with suppliers and travel when necessary to develop new styles, fabrics, and trims.
- Attend fabric fairs to stay up-to-date on innovations and market developments.
Skills:
- Commercial and aspirational designer with relevant experience in softs/tailoring.
- Highly creative, trend-driven, and able to produce high-end, luxury tailoring designs.
- Strong technical knowledge of garment construction and fabric/trim selection.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced fashion environment with multiple priorities.
- Strong presentation, mentoring, and decision-making skills.
