The Council's Finance Department provides a range of effective, efficient and high quality professional services with support to Members, managers, staff, services, schools and a range of external partners in the delivery of the Council's objectives.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Systems Officer to lead in the development, administration and maintenance of the Council's financial systems in accordance with corporate needs and the system needs of individual system users.

The role involves;

Leading on aspects of systems development to meet legislative, corporate and end user needs.

Supporting the Systems Administrator in order to achieve effective implementation, testing and roll-out to system users of new software and upgrades to existing software.

Control of batch processing and feeder system updates.

Day-to-day responding to the Financial Systems customer fault logging system (OTRS), ensuring all calls logged are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner.

Undertaking all aspects of day-to-day and ad-hoc systems administration including creating/amending/disabling user access; data management including data archiving; and data extracts both routine and in response to ad-hoc requests.

Developing and maintaining end user manuals for all systems supported, ensuring they are updated in line with any software/systems updates.

Deputising for the Systems Administrator as and when necessary.

QCF (NVQ) Level 4, or equivalent in a related field or able to demonstrate competence through experience is essential for this role. The successful candidate also needs to have excellent ICT skills, effective communication, and interpersonal skills with strong problem-solving skills along with the ability to organise and prioritise work effectively.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

A basic criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.

Under the provisions of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 this post is designated as politically restricted.
