About the role

It's an exciting time at Orica. In our Digital Solutions Orebody Intelligence Division we design & commercialise cutting-edge measurement technology that is reshaping the Mining and Infrastructure sectors.

We are looking to add a Senior Systems Engineer to our growing UK engineering team; a critical role in our global business of highly engineered downhole geospatial measurement solutions. Working alongside our friendly and supportive team in our offices in Tewkesbury, United Kingdom, and in collaboration with other global engineering teams, the Senior Systems Engineer is a critical role in growing the range and performance of our industry-leading technology.

What you will be doing

• Key engineering contributor to delivery on OBI Geospatial product roadmap;
• Key engineering input to ensure the OBI Geospatial produces a suite of market leading measurement technology.
• Contributor to product requirements setting - detailed understanding of system capability & how it delivers on customer needs
• Principal source of knowledge & mentoring on the system design of inertial sensing technology to deliver measurement outcomes for customers; including considering different implementations for different applications
• Standard setting for testing, evaluation & design of inertial sensing engineering;
• Leveraging global peers & engineering resources to deliver against product roadmap and market expectation for geospatial sensor advancement without reporting line authority.

What you will bring

• System Engineering Degree or Applied Mathematics Degree;
• Minimum 5 years experience post qualification;
• Demonstrated history of delivery in decentralised organizations; with or without reporting line accountability;
• Experience in working with inertial sensors & related technology such as AHRS, Northseeking function, Kalman Filtering, Servo control & Gimbal stabilization is highly desired
• Ability to code complex mathematical algorithms in C++ or equivalent to a proof-of-concept delivery level at minimum. Further software engineering skills are highly valued but not essential
• Demonstrated history of customer centricity & commercial acumen is highly valued;
