Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, this is a unique opportunity to shape the architecture of an end-to-end automation system that will make advanced cell therapies more accessible to patients around the world.

In this role, you will be a key contributor in defining, decomposing, and managing system and product-level requirements, with a strong focus on traceability and interface management across the development lifecycle. You will lead structured requirements processes-from capturing user needs to ensuring verification and validation-while identifying key technical risks, trade-offs, and interdependencies.

Your responsibilities will include driving the adoption of tools and practices that support compliance with regulatory and quality standards, as well as producing robust technical documentation to maintain system-level traceability and alignment.

As a senior member of the team, you will act as a facilitator for complex, cross-functional decision-making processes, aligning diverse stakeholders around shared goals and clear, data-driven choices. You will track critical decisions and manage unresolved issues across phases of development, from concept to final delivery.

You will also maintain a strong customer and user perspective, helping to translate customer needs into engineering requirements and contributing to the development of systems that meet real-world use cases and expectations. Collaboration will be central to your role, as you work closely with stakeholders across engineering, biology, product, and manufacturing to ensure technical cohesion and alignment.

Qualifications

  • A strong academic background in Engineering, gained either by degree or vocational route.
  • Proven, extensive, hands-on experience developing and delivering products into manufacture.
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing and managing structured requirements hierarchies including the use of tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent.
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles.
  • Knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Able to generate clear and accurate visualisations of quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Able to comprehend, communicate and manage complex design trade-off decisions.
  • Systems engineering, requirements management, decision analysis operations research education preferred .
  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements through to project completion, ideally within a factory automation and/or pharmaceutical setting.
  • This role will be a full time on-site position at our campus in Melbourn.
