As a Senior Sustainability Consultant you will be part of an organisation that is 100-percent employee owned, that supports and creates many opportunities for you to advance, succeed and fulfil your career aspirations. You will have the opportunity to support and advise internal and external project teams in targeting and achieving specific sustainability strategies and solutions. Proactively mentor and direct junior colleagues to ensure their professional development and task delivery is successful.

About You

We are looking for someone who is personable self-starter with the ability to project a positive 'can do' professional attitude at all times maintaining good working relationships. Someone who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines being able to establish excellent working rapport within the team, business and with clients, with the ability to work under pressure, handle a varied workload and keep to tight deadlines.

In the role of Senior Sustainability Consultant, we'll count on you to:

  • Understand the technical quality audit system. Undertake technical quality audits on your own work and of others as required.
  • Professionally, proactively and successfully assist and support all aspects of your specialist division's activities and services.
  • Ensure successful assistance and support in the management and delivery of sustainability services to our Clients in a timely, integrated, and technically proficient manner.
  • Proactively participate in team development activities, transfer of knowledge, and mentor junior colleagues to support the achievement of objectives: individual; team; performance; and development.
  • Maintain and nurture good working relationships with colleagues and project team members.
  • Proactively seek input from within your division, or the project teams, to enable successful completion of your responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional accreditation(s), awareness and understanding (e.g. CPDs) of relevant industry standards, regulations, legislation and policies appropriate to the services of the division.
  • Understand the relationship and process of task delivery in relation to fee, resources and allocation of hours to ensure a timely delivery, meeting the objectives.
  • Accurately maintain a wide range of manual and computerised records /management information, media and quality systems, providing guidance to junior colleagues to meet the required business standards.
  • Handle a wide range of tasks, projects and queries, for all activities to meet service standards, and when assigned be the point of contact.
  • Assist in gathering, monitoring and reporting of data and financial information related to project tasks to support the successful production of final deliverables, and management reporting of service performance.
  • Effectively work independently or as part of a team to meet business requirements, as required both within the office, remote working environment and during site visits.
  • Maintain appropriate level of courtesy and professionalism in dealing with other people, both internally and externally, with the ability to ask questions and exchange information using tact and diplomacy to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
  • Assist in completion of administrative tasks relating to any part of the business as required, for example: timecards, marketing, HR and procurement.
  • Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A BEng, MSc or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Minimum 4yrs experience working as a Sustainability Consultant in a design consultancy
  • Membership of an appropriate industry association e.g. IEMA. Desirable to be Practitioner / Chartered (or equivalent) member of an appropriate industry association e.g. IEMA
  • Form of accreditation in two of more of the following; BREEAM, CfSH, HQM, WELL
  • Successfully delivered two or more of the following; BREEAM NC / RFO, CfSH, HQM, WELL AP.
  • Delivery in each of the following sectors; Mixed use, Office, Residential and Retail (delivery in Data Centres is highly advantageous)
  • Successful report delivery in each of the following; Sustainability Statements, Climate Adaptation Study, Functional Adaptability Study and Material Efficiency Study
  • Understanding / knowledge of at least two of the following; Estidama Pearl, Fitwel, Greenstar, LEED, Ska and desirable
  • Skilled in using at least one of the following or equivalent: Tracker+, One Click LCA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and team working skills.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Demonstrated practical experience, competence and proven expertise in evaluating state-of-the-art building designs and energy-efficiency technologies
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical systems and controls and knowledge of the specialized requirements of highly technical facilities such as hospitals and laboratories
  • Ability to develop detailed energy models with eQuest or other simulation software
  • Experience working within the architectural design process
  • Understanding of energy-efficient commercial lighting systems
  • Availability to travel out of state
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to speak with confidence to building owners, facility personnel, contractors, architects and engineers
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
