Senior/Support Worker (Complex Needs) /Care (BN27)

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

SDR Care is a growing business with care homes situated on the South Coast. We pride ourselves on investing in our people and we are committed to the UK Living Wage Foundation. We aim to continuously train and develop our staff to enable them to reach their full potential within our collaborative and supportive team.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our new team of Senior / Support Workers at our home in Hailsham, where you will be working with residents with Complex Needs. The home will specialise in person-centred care for people with learning difficulties and autism.

The individual you will be working with has a fantastic and silly sense of humour; they love to make people laugh. They also love the outdoors, so you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Sussex countryside and getting out and about in their car, as well as playing ball games and having picnics. Working with this individual will be incredibly rewarding, as we help them on their development journey.

We are looking for people that have experience and/or understanding of supporting individuals with autism and complex needs. You must hold a current, valid full UK drivers licence (and have held it for a minimum of 1 year). You will be a great addition to the team if you enjoy working and interacting with people, have the right personality and share the same values as us. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, effective communicators, with high standards of care, and who are sensitive to the needs of people with complex needs.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who could develop their confidence to take on more responsibilities, such as running and managing shifts, while providing high levels of person-centred care.

You will, initially, be providing supported living to one individual. The house will eventually have several residents at the property. They have challenging needs and behaviours; however, full training and support will be provided to enable the team to support them in a proactive way delivering a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) model which highlights that all challenges are a form of communication.

Working hours are 39.25 hours (full-time) per week, on a rotational shift pattern. This will be a varied shift pattern including weekdays and weekends; a flexible approach to work is essential. You will be required to work occasional sleep-in shifts (a minimum of 1 per week) for which we pay £50 extra per night.

Part-time could be considered for the right applicant, this would be a minimum of 22.75 hours to ensure consistency for the service user/s.

It is important that we recruit the RIGHT team members for this role, and we will be organising a rota primarily to suit the service user. We will be supporting the service user 24/7 and expect the following shift times will apply:

Early 07:45-15:00

Late 14:45-22:00

Sleep in 22:00-08:00 (start at 06:00 to support with personal care).

Our Values form an integral part of our business and as such we would seek applicants that can demonstrate:

Kindness, Dignity & Respect

Integral to the culture of our Company; treat people with kindness, dignity, and respect then our work will be rewarding and fulfilling.

Calmness

Every decision we make is better when made with a calm and composed approach; calmness helps us to manage the challenges and demands we face.

Creativity

Embrace creativity to find innovative solutions in our work.

Responsibility

Take responsibility for our own actions, attitude, impact, and career development.
