We at Priory group are seeking to recruit a Senior Support Worker based at our site Fernleigh in Leyand. Fernleigh provides residential care and support for people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that are challenging. The service users live busy lives filled with activity. Due to the complex needs of those we support the individuals require 1:1 or 2:1 support day to day.
The Senior Support Worker position is a busy role that provides a high standard of care and support to service users with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that may challenge.
It is a challenging yet very rewarding role, and no shift will be the same.
• To provide support to the residents with complex needs in their everyday lives
• Tasks involved with daily living such as maintaining a safe and clean environment.
• Participate and initiate activities in and outside of the home.
• Provide support that will enable the service user to live as independently as possible.
• Use skills, previous experiences and knowledge to respond to challenging situations & behaviours
• Support staff with coaching, mentoring and personal development
• Team management - lead the shift, plan activities and staff rotas, be part of the on-call team
We are looking for a candidate who has experience within a similar role/ environment or someone who has been a support worker and feels ready to take the next step in their career, be flexible and use own initiative. Driver preferred but not essential. The successful candidate will have access to our Priory Adult care careers pathways, a number of courses to assist self-development towards leadership and management (NVQs, train the trainer).
