Job Description
Purpose
Reporting to the Principal Structural Engineer or Lead appointed as applicable, the Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for carrying out Structural Engineering for Oceaneering. This role plays an essential part of the success of the business by ensuring that the company continues to drive innovation and deliver commercially viable products, to achieve the Companies objectives of growth and profitability.
Responsibilities
Functions
- Assist with resolving technical queries and ensure satisfactory (design changes captured by change control)
- Producing calculations required for the role and participate in design reviews
- Experienced in Approval, Checking and Preparation of design/engineering documentation
- Produce documentation deliverables for inclusion in workpack, and or, design books, on time to meet deadlines
- Preparation of engineering, construction and equipment scopes
- Conduct site Surveys both on an offshore
- Responsible for a number of other engineering personnel to ensure work scope delivery and ensure the technical quality of work discipline team assigned to the scope of work
- Responsible for delivery as part of the team for achieving the target and completion of engineering documentation within the budget and schedule; ensuring that all engineering work is carried out in accordance with priorities and schedules as set out in the plan
- Preparation of engineering and construction scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates.
- Identification of an increase or reduction in scope and assist in raising the necessary support documents
- Management of 3rd Party Suppliers in the execution of Engineering Delivery
- Where required act as focal Point for assigned projects and jobs, managing the contact with the client
- Aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of engineering
- Support preparation of pre-qualification responses, proposals, tenders and programmes for work for new and existing customers.
- Participate in incident investigations as required
- Manage any direct reports performance
- Comply with relevant codes of conduct
Safety
- Ensure that all work complies with the Company and Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate
- Report any incidents/near misses, hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, or positive behaviour to a responsible person immediately, and participate in incident investigations where required
- Actively participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, HSE audits, and other relevant meetings where required
- Perform work responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and economic requirements
Other
- Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
- Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Holds an engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline and is a Chartered Engineer with sufficient post-graduate experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Competent in specifying modifications to existing Structures/equipment or designing new structures/equipment, including but not limited to: Fabrication and constructability techniques; Lifting aid design, installation techniques and LOLER lift plans; Application of structural analysis packages; Survey Techniques; Other associated modifications within the Oil and Gas industry
- Conversant and Knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards.
- Adhere to and comply with company engineering procedures, industry, international and where applicable, client codes and standards

- Foster positive and effective working relationships with Clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Proficient in various applicable design software systems and Microsoft packages
- Good interpersonal skills - Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

- Cognisant of business requirements and needs and adaptable to changing environment and business requirements
- Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations
- Able to travel in UK and abroad, as well as offshore
