Senior Structural Engineer - Manchester
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with strong technical and commercial expertise to join our Manchester office. This role supports our ambition to expand and strengthen our structural capability across Manchester and the wider UK.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer with a history of successfully delivering design projects from concept to completion. This role involves close collaboration with clients, stakeholders, decision-makers, and other consultants to develop effective design solutions that meet project demands. A solid understanding of industry trends and the ability to adapt business strategies to leverage market conditions are essential.
Our Manchester office offers multidisciplinary engineering services across diverse sectors including Education, Commercial, Residential, Airports, Defence, Energy, Rail, and Civil Infrastructure. We work on both local and international projects, taking on some of the most exciting and challenging engineering ventures.

Key Requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE).
- Significant experience in structural engineering projects, including low-carbon design solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and other relevant structural design standards.
- Proven experience in designing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber structures from concept through to detailed delivery.
- Knowledge of foundation design, structural analysis, and construction methods.
- Familiarity with 2D & 3D design tools such as Robot, Tekla, and Tedds.
- Site experience with a focus on buildability and construction delivery.
- Understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts (preferred).
- A sound grasp of commercial aspects of consultancy work.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentations).
- A natural curiosity and passion for innovative, cost-effective design solutions.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and support them in achieving professional qualifications.
- Proven ability to build client relationships and win new business opportunities.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
- Driving licence (preferred).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key and prospective clients.
- Take technical and commercial responsibility for project delivery.
- Review structural calculations, drawings, and design documents.
- Support the professional development of engineers and technicians within the team.
- Act as a liaison between clients, stakeholders, and the project team.
- Contribute to the growth of the business by identifying new opportunities and supporting the development of innovative solutions.
