Role Summary

This is a level 1 unit with 8 designated special care cots, but with some degree of flexibility in providing intensive care and high dependency Cots when needed.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience as a Band 6 in Neonatal Unit LNU/NICU

The post holder will be responsible for providing effective care to special care, high dependency and intensive care Neonates without direct supervision in any situation.

Deputise in the absence of the Ward manager.

In charge of the ward and to support Junior members of the team as well as student Nurses.

Take part in regular performance appraisal.

The post holder will require resilience to deliver specialist Nursing care in at times, stressful and emotionally demanding environments.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Neonatal Staff Nurse to join our Special care baby unit in Barnstaple.

The role is to promote high standards of care and acts as a role model providing clinical leadership to the Nursing and wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will also demonstrate continuing professional development that reflects individual needs, the needs of the team and the needs of the organisation.

Informal visits can be arranged with prospective candidates by contacting the ward directly to speak to the Senior Nurses or Ward manager.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 07:30 - 20:00.

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2023-4 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2023/24 | NHS Employers).
